Newly promoted Preston City maintained their 100% start to the season with a 2-1 win over AFC Ashwood and they lead division 1 by two points. The team run by Dean Charles and Duncan Sumner entered the adult section of the league in 2007 and have been promoted each season since as champions.

The other promoted side Theatre Boys beat AC Muldoons 6-4 in a goal fest at the Sports Arena with goals from Paul Day (3), Dave Doherty, Anthony Chattell and an OG. Jordan Cartmel, Michael Collins, Leon Smithson and John Gregson replied.

New Farington House head the table with four wins after disposing of AFC Lostock Hall 3-1 and New Meadow St won again beating Penwortham Town 7-3.

AFC Lostock Hall look to kick start their season

Eyebrows have been raised at the early form of treble champions AFC Lostock Hall which has seen them lose two of their three games played to date, more than in the whole of last season.

However AFC’s joint manager Russell Horsfield was relaxed about the situation although he was disappointed to lose games so early in the season. He said, “It just shows you how strong this premier league is, we had a few players missing but New Meadow St and Cadley deserved their wins.

Horsfield continued, “We have a strong squad and I expect the results to pick up fairly quickly”.

One bit of good news for the Lostock Hall outfit is the imminent return of Adam Tong from the winter break in Australia and he will be soon be available for selection.

Preston Town’s early season form continued with a 2-1 win over Penwortham Town to net six points from their first two games. Cadley recovered from Thursday’s loss to New Farington by beating AFC Lostock Hall 2-1, Ingol Rangers beat Greenlands 2-1 in a tight affair at the Sports Arena but New Farington House are the team to watch after their 9-1 win at Unicorn and they now lead the table by three points.

Three teams have maximum points in division 1, Preston City who won 2-1 at AFC Longridge, Plungington Celtic who beat Station East End 3-1 and Lea after their 3-1 result against AC Muldoons. BAC Continental won 4-0 at Penwortham Hill Rovers and Theatre Boys and Wrea Green drew 1-1.

Coppull Utd have hit the ground running in division 2 with their 7-2 win over Ashton Villa to bag six points from two games. Walton Athletic beat Preston Guild 5-0 at Moor Park, Vernon Sports beat Worden Rangers 4-2 and Eccleston & Heskin and Gregson Lane Wanderers couldn’t must a goal between them.

Ribbleton and Central Utd are showing the early form in division 3, both have maximum points after Ribbleton beat East Lancs Utd 4-1 and Central won 5-4 away at Waverley. There were big wins for London Victoria over Birchall PR and Lostock Hall at Gregson Lane, Wyresdale Rangers got off the mark with a 4-1 win over Fulwood PR and Wilbraham and South Ribble drew 1-1.

There is a feeling that division 4 will be a competitive division this term with some of the new clubs expected to make their mark. The table is lead by Penwortham Utd who beat BAE Warton 9-1 and they are joined on six points by Brownedge who beat Springfields 6-2. New Longton Rovers had a tasty 5-1 win at Brigg and Tanterton won 6-0 at Ribbleton Wanderers.

Referees

Referee fitness training

Training will be held from 6.30-7.30pm every Monday evening at Preston Sports Arena.

Our weekly fitness sessions with the excellent facilities on offer at the Arena and the support group atmosphere is something very positive which the Society offers.

Organiser Paul Marsden said, "I would particularly appeal to any members who perhaps do not currently attend Society meetings for whatever reason to give the fitness sessions a go as I assure you that you will find it a very good way of getting involved, and it will benefit your refereeing.

If you are interested in coming down either next week or in the future, please contact Paul Marsden via e-mail .

Referees Wanted

Referees are needed to ensure that games in the local leagues have a qualified official.

Is this something that would interest you? - if so we can help you get started and we will support you through the Referees Society training programme.

Referees come in all shapes and sizes, young and old, male and female and if you love the beautiful game we can find a place for you. Ex-players are particularly welcome.

If you are interested and would like more information, please give Jim Bryson a call on 01772 700997.

FA Referees Fitness Guide

Referees are asked to read the attached Fitness Guide.
The FA, LFA & RA encourage all referees to attend their local Society's Fitness Sessions, which are held each Monday evening at Preston Arena. Details above.
