Derian House Children’s Hospice

Background

Lancashire Evening Post Sunday Football League has a proud history of supporting local children based charities, such as National Children’s Homes (NCH), National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and more recently the Melanie Magic Wand Appeal by taking a collection at a league meeting.

Why Derian House?

This is the League’s opportunity to put something back into the community in which we operate and we cannot think of a more worthwhile cause than this wonderful organisation which cares for children and their families and supports them in their darkest moments.

Derian House Hospice has been the League’s adopted charity for the past four seasons and the league has donated all monies collected from the raffle at the Christmas meeting to the charity.

The amount donated to the Hospice by member clubs over the past five years currently stands at £18,292.20.

Christmas League Meeting

It has been a tradition since the league started that clubs supply a prize for the raffle at the Christmas meeting. Tickets for the raffle are sold on the night so all the winners are at the meeting.

Clubs are not obliged to provide a raffle prize but the vast majority of clubs join in by donating either a bottle of spirits, wine, cans of beer or lager, chocolate or whatever.

Making a Donation

Clubs and individuals are asked to support the League’s appeal by making an individual donation or by a collection from the team.

Donations can be sent to Eamonn McNamara, 19 Greenacres, Fulwood, Preston PR2 7DA and cheques should be made payable to Lancashire Evening Post Sunday Football League. The final amount collected will be presented to Derian House just before Christmas on behalf of the League.
