Latest NewsSunday February 7, 2010Burscough, Tarleton and Wilbraham book Cup Final DatesAFC Ingol (blue) v Tarleton Corinthians - Challenge Cup Semi-final The weather relented for a couple of hours this morning and thankfully allowed the three outstanding cup semi-finals to be played at Preston Sports Arena. Tarleton Corinthians playing their tenth cup tie of the season beat AFC Ingol (Div 2) 3-1 they earned a place in the Challenge Cup final where they will face AFC Lostock Hall. AFC Ingol (Div 2) took an early lead through Danny Jones in the 8th minute only for Dan Birkby to level matters in the 17th minute. An own goal after 62 minutes and a second from Birkby after 75 mins saw the division 3 outfit through to the League’s premier final on Wednesday 21 April at the County Ground. Wilbraham Wanderers currently at the foot of division 4 managed to beat Hoole Athletic (Div 2) 4-3 and book a place in the Presidents Cup Final where they will meet AFC Brigg at Bamber Bridge FC on Wednesday 10 March. Darren Anderson fired Wilbraham ahead from a free kick in the 42nd minute and Tom Park netted a couple of minutes later to give them a 2-0 lead at half time. Hoole’s Rick Goudy scored twice in the second half to force extra time but goals from Joe Sowerby and Clint Hughes were enough to see Wilbraham through in spite of Goudy completing his hat trick with five minutes to go. Burscough are through to the Youth Cup Final after beating top premier division side Norcross & Warbreck 2-0 thanks to a Michael Jenkins free kick in the 40th minute and a second from Andrew Kenyon on the stroke of full time. This means that the Youth Cup Final will be an all Burscough affair between Burscough (Div 1) and Burscough Dynamo (Youth Premier). Both teams are parented by the Unibond Premier Division club but they have separate squads and registrations. Details of the Final arrangements will be given later. Meanwhile Old Blackburnians Lammack, our remaining team in the LFA Under-18s Youth Cup were beaten 7-1 in the semi-finals by the youth team of Fleetwood Town FC of the Conference North. Hardly a level playing field. Four second round ties in the Youth Trophy produced wins for Brigg, Newman, New Longton Rovers and Penwortham Town.
